The Huntington

The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens is a collections-based research and educational institution serving scholars and the general public. Its property has 16 gardens and over 11 million total items in their collections, making the Huntington one of the most extensive collection institutions in the country.

The logo mark was inspired by the idea of bilateral symmetry, which was found everywhere at the Huntington, in their gardens, architecture, and art collections. An asterisk-like symbol acts as a cross bar for the “H”, used to represent the many aspects of the Huntington. A custom typeface was then created using a grid system inspired by the Huntington’s bilateral symmetry and history, which was then used for the posters, booklets, and other collateral.
